A Sad Loss

It is with great sadness, that I bring you the news of the very sudden, tragic death of Carl Jolley, who was known by some zone users as the user Guitarman. Carl died this morning, 26/08/2005, at the age of 31. The circumstances are still not yet really known.

As you may pick up from his profile, Carl was a person who loved life. No matter any trials he faced, he still made a point of living his life to the fullest possible. He was kind, charming, funny, to name a few things. You couldn't really have found a nicer person.

Carl worked for site and sound technology here in the UK, and dealings that I had with him in his proffessional capacity were nothing but positive. He was the kind of person who would help anyone if he could, and then some on top. He came across as being a very capable worker, and many would agree, an asset to Site and Sound.

Carl played guitar, surprisingly enough, and drums. Although I've never spent any time with him personally, I did go to a gig he played around five years ago. It was a great night out. He loved to perform, make people laugh and make people happy.

All that I can say about Carl is that, although I never had the fortune to meet him in person, I know that he was very special and he will be missed by many.

My heart goes out to his friends and family, in this tragic, somewhat confusing time.

R.I.P. Carl

I had brief but happy dealings with Carl, and like danielle found him to be lots of fun, and a great laugh to be around. I know that he will be sorely missed by those close to him. My thoughts are with all who feel his loss.

This is very sad. Carl was in fact a very good friend of mine - last summer we talked regularly when we both were going through some hard times, I did meet him once when he came to demo a packmat for me, which I didn't buy as it turns out, *smiles*, but I had recently not talked to him much, but it's very sad news.

Carl's funeral will be this Friday afternoon, 16/09/05, at 2:15PM.

It was found that he died of a blood clot. He had been doing a lot of traveling in the two weeks prior to his death and it is thought that he developed DVT during that time. The doctor's said that it would have been quick and painless, so that is something.

I know it has been a while since this topic has been posted. I don't know him personally, but he was a zoner, some of my friends here knew him, and this is why I will pray for his friends and family.

Carl was a good mate of mine for years and we were in two bands together. This was certainly a shock. He'll be missed by many, including myself. He was a cool guy and we had some great times! Rock on bro, wherever you are now...
